Did you happen to catch that crazy lightning show over the eastern part of the Coachella Valley on Sunday night?
According to the National Weather Service, there were 3,295 lightning strikes within a one-hour period, between 7 – 8 pm – which included 459 cloud-to-ground strikes and 2,836 flashes.

More lightning could be on tap for Monday through Wednesday as Rita will bring the Coachella Valley and Southern California plenty of unstable air and a chance of precipitation.
