A horse died Monday night after it was hit by multiple vehicles in Desert Hot Springs.

Police were called to Palm Drive and 20th Avenue at about 8:30 pm, according to KESQ. A person who had been riding the horse was knocked off and the horse continued walking into the road where it was hit.

The rider was hospitalized and their condition is currently not known.
