Idyllwild, that charming little mountain town you go to in order to escape the gross desert heat for a bit, is now home to a brewery / eatery that is pretty damn awesome. Here’s what it’s like at the Idyllwild Brewpub.
You’ll find the Idyllwild Brewpub in the heart of town, about a block from the Fort. When you arrive, you’ll see this sign for the place:
Next to the sign are some stairs. A quick walk down those states takes you to exactly what you wanted from a brewery in the mountains: a huge, covered patio where you can sip beers, enjoy the cooler temps, and look at huge trees.
I mean, c’mon!
And, for those of you that just hate nature, the inside of the Idyllwild Brewpub is also pretty cool.
The Idyllwild Brewpub has tons of beers to choose from.
On my visit, I enjoyed an Idyllwild IPA (6.7% ABV, 63 IBU).
I also had a IKIHMKWICIH (I know I had my keys when I came in here), which packed on a bit more ABV (10.1%, 130 IBU), but I had a driver so why not?
The Idyllwild Brewpub beers were tasty and the food was solid too. Here is my burger:
You will also find apps, salads, sandwiches, fish and chips and more on the menu – which you can check out here.
Everything at the restaurant / brewery was super clean (which was nice since, unfortunately, that’s not always the case with breweries) and the staff was really nice and was more than happy to let me sample a couple of brews before deciding which one would be lucky enough to call my belly home.
If you are headed to Idyllwild, I definitely recommend the Idyllwild Brewpub – and if you are not headed to Idyllwild, you should make plans to go. It’s much cooler up there.
