The Indio City Council decided to give themselves a pretty substantial raise last night – and rightfully so. I mean showing up to ribbon cuttings and using those giant scissors is hard work.
The council voted three to two for the 10 % increase, with Councilman Troy Strange and Mayor Glenn Miller voting against the raise, according to the Desert Sun.
“I don’t feel it’s appropriate at this time to take a position on this for myself before our staff does,” Miller said before the vote. “I think before we need to take a raise ourself, we need to make sure our staff gets a raise.”
Unfortunately for them, the staff does not get to vote on their own raises like the city council does.
