The Indio Fashion Mall has a new owner

It’s official. The owners of the Empire Polo Club have purchased the Indio Fashion Mall and surrounding land.

The sale became official this week, though it had been known that the Haagen Company, owners of the Empire Polo Club where the Rhythm Wine and Brews Festival will be held this weekend, were working to acquire the mall.

The property is situated on 17 acres located near the southeast corner of Highway 111 and Monroe St. The 215,000 square foo Indio Fashion Mall had 30% occupancy at the time of sale, according to a press release.

“We are pleased to continue our 30-year working relationship with the City of Indio and are excited about the opportunity to revitalize the Indio Fashion Mall, which has historically been the most important shopping district for the citizens of Indio as well as the entire East Coachella Valley.  Good things to come!” said Alexander Haagen III.

THe Haagen Company says they plan to redevelop and expand the location into a “vibrant retail, entertainment and dining destination attractive to both local residents and tourists.” Though there have not been any specific plans released so far.

The Indio Fashion Mall and its retailers will remain open for business while design plans are in progress.
