An investigation is underway after an officer-involved shooting occurred in Rancho Mirage on Tuesday night.
Update: The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department says that responded to a call of a man seen waving a knife and “exhibiting bizarre behavior,” according to the Desert Sun.
Police ordered the man put the knife down. When he did not, they tried disabling the man with a stun gun – which police say did not work on him. The man, still holding the knife, then moved towards deputies – at which point at least one officer opened fire on the man.
The man, whose name hasn’t been released, was taken to the hospital where he died.
