Is anyone in Palm Springs not running for city council?

The Palm Springs city council election is still seven months away but that hasn’t stopped nine people from already filing papers declaring their intention to run, according to the Desert Sun. More candidates are likely on the way and maybe it would be easier to just list Palm Springs residents who are not running in 2019.

“This is more candidates by early April than there have been in any election over the past 20 years that I can recall,” Palm Springs Mayor Pro Tem Geoff Kors told the newspaper. “I think moving to districts and the process we did to reach out to communities to encourage people to participate in government has led to more people declared to run.”

Counterpoint: Or, Geoff, perhaps people are tired of what the current city council has been doing these past few years and are looking for change?

Guess we will find out in November.

The newspaper has a breakdown of who is running here. Check it out now or check it out or just a wait a few weeks for more people to declare when the article will appear more like a phone book.
