If you head over to the Miley Cyrus Instagram account, you may notice that a couple of photos posted recently of the singer sitting in a Joshua Tree are no longer visible. This comes after a bit of outrage over Cyrus documenting herself climbing onto the protected species – which, you know, is a bit of a no-no.
“Looking down at all the petty drama like….,” Cyrus wrote on one of the posts which immediately drew criticism and what appeared to be a subtweet from the National Park.
Joshua trees are not your typical ‘tree’-they're actually more closely related to grasses and orchids than hardwood trees (oak or cedar). They have thin, shallow roots & can't support weight w/o damage. Keep admiring & loving on our amazing Joshua trees, from the ground! <3 <3 pic.twitter.com/HdAmBDqsVg

Buzzfeed noted that comments were disabled on the two photos showing the singer in the Joshua trees last week and now it appears they have been taken down.
Cyrus has not commented about the photos.
