A Fontana man was arrested after his adorable Chihuahua named Jack Sparrow was found by a veterinarian to have ingested methamphetamine.
Jack’s owner, Nathaniel Sais, brought the dog to the Inland Valley Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Center in Upland on July 5th, reports the Press Enterprise.
Sais told doctors that he believed the dog had eaten meth. Doctors tested Jack and determined that the pooch did indeed have crank in his system.
But, before Jack Sparrow could be treated, his owner took the dog from the vet, even though staff could see the dog convulsing.
Doctors called Fontana Animal Services who found Sais and his dog at a house on Hemlock Avenue. Jack was still convulsing and seizing from the overdose when they arrived, according to the LA Times.
The dog was taken from Sais and brought back to the animal hospital for treatment.
Fontana Police arrested Sais on Friday for suspicion of animal cruelty.
Jack Sparrow is still being treated and is hypersensitive to noise and sudden movement, but he is expected to recover.
