A feline sanctuary in Central California discovered 14 plastic tubs containing cats at the edge of their parking lot on Thursday morning.

The tubs, which had air holes drilled in them and blankets inside, were left at the Cat House on the Kings in Parlier (near Fresno).
“Just to leave them in the cold and rain is not OK,” Beth Caffrey, a spokeswoman for the sanctuary, told the LA Times.
The sanctuary posted about the dumped cats on Facebook and asked for donations to help take care of the felines:
“It’s distressing me that these people couldn’t ask for help,” the sanctuary’s director, Lynea Lattanzio told the Times. “We would have just helped.”
In California, willfully abandoning an animal is a misdemeanor crime.
