Joshua Tree National Park now has shuttle service

Joshua Tree National Park is an amazing, beautiful, must-see place. As many more people have realized that over the last few years, this has resulted in big crowds which can result is crowded roads inside the park. So now, the park is adding shuttle service to try to alleviate some of the traffic inside the park and, best of all, it will even pick you up in Palm Springs.

A pilot program that will whisk people to trail heads and campgrounds launches on February 2 and runs through April 30. Hopping on the shuttle is free for everyone with a pass to the park.

“We’re hoping that certain segments of the population will leave their vehicles outside the border of the park and use the shuttle to go into the campgrounds and go in and out of different areas of the park, different day use areas,” George Land, a ranger and spokesman for the National Park Service, told the Press Enterprise.

There will be shuttles at the Joshua Tree visitor center and another at the Oasis visitor center in Twentynine Palms. There is also a shuttle from Palm Springs that connects to the two visitor centers – which is pretty rad – though it would be nice if it would stop by Pie for the People on the way back home.
