A Joshua Tree woman is dead after being attacked by four pit bulls.
Police were called to a home on Sunflower Drive about 10 pm on Wednesday, according to a news release. The victim, Lana Bergman, 70, and her husband lived at the home with a friend and his four dogs, who she helped care for during the past year.
Bergman was home alone with the dogs on Wednesday when they attacked. She died from her injuries a short time later.
Animal Control Officers took custody of the dogs. Police did not find any indication that the dogs were neglected. What led the pit bulls to attack is under investigation.
