
A 28-year-old La Quinta man was arrested in connection with a residential burglary / vehicle theft on Thursday.
Deputies were called to Ross Avenue to investigate about 10 am. James Harper was identified as a suspect and he was located walking on Jefferson Street and Fred Waring Drive later in the day, according to a news release.
Harper fled into a near-by neighborhood in the city of Indio. A perimeter was established and Harper was located hiding on Heritage Palms Drive and taken into custody. Police say he was in possession of a 10-inch knife, which is a violation of his parole terms.
Harper was transported to a local hospital as a precaution and booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
