A Palm Desert man was arrested on Saturday after police say broke into a home and was in possession of a stolen car.
Officers responded to to a residential, silent burglary alarm on Avenida Montezuma a little after 2 pm, according to a news release. As the officer was checking the residence a burglary suspect ran from a rear door and hopped over an adjoining wall into the neighborhood.
Additional officers were called along with a K( Unit and a CHP helicopter to search for the suspect who was eventually found in the back yard of a home. The suspect was apprehended by the use of a Sheriff’s K9 after he in initially failed to come out. Police also determined the suspect was in possession of a stolen vehicle near the site of the initial burglary.
Elias Cruz, 21 years old of Palm Desert booked on suspicion of residential burglary, committing a felony while out on bail and receiving stolen property.
