A man authorities say shot two people in La Quinta, one of them fatally, then led police on a high speed pursuit on the 10 Freeway to Ontario has died.
Stacy Allen Rowan, 56, of La Quinta, died at a hospital Saturday, according to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Rowan was hospitalized after he shot himself at the conclusion of a pursuit that ended in Ontario.
Police were called to Avenida Vallejo in La Quinta Thursday morning for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at a home. A 72-year-old man was found shot to death and a woman with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

As the Press Enterprise notes, court records show that Rowan lived on the same block as the victims.
