Though nothing is imminent, the city of La Quinta is at least looking at the idea of having a shuttle service that would take locals and tourists around to the city’s different dining and entertainment districts, according to the Desert Sun. This would allow you and others to take a ride on the city’s dime from the Beer Hunter to the La Quinta Old Town Taproom to SilverRock and other spots in the city and, honestly, doesn’t sound like a bad idea.
As proposed, the clockwise loop service would run east on Highway 111, starting near the Von’s shopping center, turn south onto Jefferson Street, then east on Avenue 52, north on Eisenhower Drive to Washington Street and take Washington back to Highway 111. The loop would connect with SunLine full-service routes 111 and 70,” (SunLine Transit Agency CEO Lauren Skiver) said.
The estimated cost for the program would range from anywhere from just under $100,000 to over $400,000 per year, depending on the hours, number of days per week, does it shut down during the summer (no!), etc.
And while that may seem like a good chunk of money, it may be better spent than some of the other ways the city has been looking to dole out cash.
So, would a shuttle service in La Quinta (#DoYouEvenShuttleInLaQuintaBro) be a good or bad idea? Let’s discuss on the comments.
