Tuesday is going to be a terrible, disgusting, ridiculously hot day. Here are some updates of what is happening in and around the Coachella Valley as we all try to beat the insane heat.
Note: come check back as we will be posting updates throughout the day. Something I should add? Let me know about it in the comments or here.
7:21 pm: Thanks for staying with me all day and keeping up with the updates. I leave you with this weirdness.
120 degrees, just gonna ride my two-story bike to the grocery store. pic.twitter.com/f36XAGiTH5

5:55 pm: Why were we not at Del Mar today?
There was a 59 degree temp gradient from the coast to the cacti today. The high was 65 at Del Mar Beach, and 124 at Ocotillo Wells. #cawx

4:08 pm: Congrats, or something, Thermal.
Thermal has set a new record high today! 122 surpasses the old record of 121 set just last year. #cawx

3:31 pm: Welp, we knew this cliché was coming at some point.
Trevor Eade from #PalmSprings went out on his balcony this afternoon, and after 5 minutes he had "Huevos con Sol!" #HeatWave pic.twitter.com/eIATEvh44L

2:59 pm: Please, can we all go to the beach now?
Clouds are keeping it cool today at the beach, with a 59 degree difference from the coast to the deserts. #cawx pic.twitter.com/q3G320b8Au

It's official! #PalmSprings has tied their rec high of 122 deg @ 213pm. Will they tie the all-time rec of 123 deg? Stay tuned…#cawx

1:40 pm: Because things weren’t already bad enough:
Red means unhealthy air for everyone. This heat wave is bad. #airpollution https://t.co/lFCHckSwa9 pic.twitter.com/ef8kGTJB0d

1:09 pm: An interesting question is posed on Twitter.
Why the fuck would anyone wanna live in Palm Springs ? pic.twitter.com/PeQStX2I6D
— Brian (@Poxtillo) June 20, 2017
12:48 pm: I have realized that no matter how hot the temperature may get, one of your Facebook friends will comment that they remember when it was much, much hotter. Sure, the official record in Palm Springs was 123 degrees, but Bob says that’s a damn lie because he remembers the day it was 128 a few years back and Veronica knows for a fact it reached 133 degrees in the Coachella Valley that one time.
12:36 pm: We have hit 117.
temps are sizzling with 117 right now in Palm Springs at high noon #heatwave #CAwx be safe and take breaks in the heat

12:34 pm: The memes, they just won’t stop.
Yep that's what they said!! Is that supposed to make it okay? Only 120 degrees today. pic.twitter.com/CQarUJvW2r

12:15 pm: Jerry Steffen’s latest forecast has Palm Springs missing the all-time record high by two degrees, which is oddly disappointing.
Palm Springs Hour-by-Hour Forecast!
As you can see, it's Off the Charts hot!

11:55 am: Three random thoughts before my brain melts:
- Every commercial building in the Coachella Valley should be required to put in covered parking.
- Anyone who is working outside today deserves a huge bonus and a hug (after they shower).
- I should have ordered a necklace fan 2 days ago.
11:44 am: It somehow just keeps getting hotter and hotter.
11:41 am: Weird, for some reason people don’t seem to be flocking to the mirror house today.
11:33 am: Joe Galli’s cute cat seems not at all pleased with the hot weather.
Keep furry friends inside with plenty of water. It's way too hot out. Check @KESQ & @LocalTwo for #Wx updates during this heat wave. pic.twitter.com/aLL9vc3fk5

11:11 am: It’s already 110 freakin’ degrees and it is not even noon yet.
*Update 11:58 am: This was actually a better screen grab at that time:
10:45 am: Bad news if you were looking to escape the heat by going somewhere just as hot.
#Local: Flights to #Phoenix out of #PalmSprings International Airport cancelled due to the extreme heat in both cities. @KESQ @LocalTwo pic.twitter.com/WBeCokzWIB

9:30 am: And to think, it’s not even officially summer yet.
Although it seemed as though Coachella Valley's Summer arrived days ago, the Summer Solstice actually occurs later tonight.@KESQ pic.twitter.com/SmnigxIc3C
