Local 2 anchor Kris Long was not on the air Tuesday night, a day following a Facebook post in which he defended Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh from a recent accusation that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted an acquaintance as a teenager.
After a couple of other stories and a brief weather forecast, anchor Brooke Beare read a statement from the station’s management regarding the situation:
“Due to the nature of the post, we have chosen not to address the topic any further and apologize for any offense this has caused,” Beare says in part of the statement. “We are addressing this issue internally.”
