Amazon completed its purchase of Whole Foods on Monday, so I decided to take a stroll through the Palm Desert store to see what items were marked down.
Some highlights:
Organic bananas are now 69 cents (down from 99 cents)
Avocados, which used to cost $2.99 each, are now $1.49 each
Cage-Free Non-GMO Large White Eggs are now $2.99 instead of $3.49
Organic Cage-Free Large Brown Eggs dropped from $4.99 to $3.99
New York Strip Steak at $13.99 per pound (dropped from $16.99)
Boneless Rib-Eye Steaks at $13.99 per pound ($3 less than before)A bunch of salads dropped from $3.99 to $3.49Almond Milk is now $2.99, down from $3.79
BONUS: I also saw this deal on a BLT which was, technically not an Amazon markdown, but still a pretty good price.
Other specials seen around the country (and that I might have missed because I was hungry and wanted to eat my BLT) include butter cut from $5.29 to $4.49, Fresh Atlantic Salmon is $5 cheaper ($9.99 per pound), Gala Apples being sold for $1.99 (reduced from $2.99), Whole Foods in-house creamy and crunchy almond butter to $6.99 ($1 less), and rotisserie chickens are a dollar cheaper, now selling for $7.99 each.
Some Whole Foods are even selling gadgets now (though I did not see this in the Palm Desert store).
If you go, the Palm Desert Whole Foods is located at 44459 Town Center Way, Palm Desert, (760) 797-8200
