If you want to ride Colossus one last time, you best be getting in your car right about now and head to Valencia before the end of the night. The massive wooden roller coaster, with a 100-foot drop and speeds up to 60 mph, has been around for 36 years – but after Saturday, it will be no more.
Colossus was once one of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in America and it was prominently featured in National Lampoon’s Vacation (Wally World!). Officials from Six Flags officials have declined to say why the coaster was closing or what might replace it.
