Three vehicles struck a man and his infant son on Interstate 10 in Beaumont Thursday night killing them both.

The man was spotted on the westbound side of I-10 near the 60, later crossing to the eastbound side. CHP Officer Darren Meyer told Banning-Beaumont Patch, “We got [911] calls of this person walking on the shoulder, but before we could get there, he was hit by a vehicle. He was holding the child and in the traffic lanes when he got hit.”

The man and child were hit by a total of three vehicles: a Toyota Prius, a Mercedes sedan and, a Toyota Sequoi SUV. The collision occurred at 10:30pm. Officials do not know if the man was trying to cross the freeway or was just walking in the middle of the freeway. Both the man and the infant were pronounced dead at the scene.

The events leading to the tragedy began Thursday night around 10:10pm when a Beaumont woman called 911 after getting into some sort of argument with the man. A short time later, the man left their Beaumont house with their 6-month-old son.
