A man was arrested in Palm Springs on Tuesday after police say he ran from and later fought with officers.
Deputies spotted Juan Ortiz about 1:45 pm near Calle El Segundo and Ramon Road. Ortiz was wanted on suspicion of burglary, according to the Desert Sun. When officers tried to make contact with Ortiz, he took off on foot.
A search for Ortiz involving a CHP helicopter last about an hour until he was located in the St. Theresa Catholic School parking lot. It was there that police say he fought with officers before being placed under arrest. The school was placed on a temporary lockdown.
Ortiz was arrested for the robbery warrant and on suspicion of resisting police.
There were no reported injuries.
