A 24-year-old Thousand Palms man was arrested on Tuesday after police say he broke in and stole items from a Rancho Mirage home while the residents were there and then fled in a stolen off road vehicle.
The “cat” burglary happened sometime between 4 an 8 am on Clearwater Way in Rancho Mirage, according to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The victims were inside their residence when the suspect entered and removed property from within the home. Upon fleeing, the suspect also had stolen an off-road vehicle, say officials.
At 11:30 am, members of the Riverside Auto Theft Interdiction Detail located the stolen off-road vehicle in the area of Varner Road and Harry Oliver Trail in Thousand Palms.
Authorities contacted the suspect, Wyatt Henderson, near the area of the stolen vehicle. Other items matching the stolen property from the Clearwater residence were also located.
Henderson, was arrested for the residential “cat” burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property and committing a felony while on bail.
Officials also determined that he had several felony warrants for his arrest from San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department and the State of Idaho. Henderson was transported the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
