A Cathedral City man is dead after he shot himself near Panorama Park Thursday night.
Police were called to Tachevah Road and Avenida Maravilla about 6 pm for a man threatening suicide, according to the Desert Sun. Upon arriving, officers were told that the man was not there and that he had left the home with a gun.
The man was spotted driving a truck in the area a short time later. After a low-speed pursuit, the man stopped on Tachevah. As officers approached, they heard what sounded like a gunshot. An armored rescue-vehicle was called in to help officers safely approach the truck and when they arrived at the vehicle, the found the 58-year-old with a gunshot to his uppper body.
The man, who was not named, was pronounced dead at the scene.
