A wild police pursuit of a man in a stolen trailer that took place early Monday morning included the truck ramming a police cruiser and officers firing upon the suspect took.

Police were called to a business on Shea Center Drive a little after 1 am, according to the Press Enterprise. The suspect, described as a 37-year-old Pomona man, had stolen a truck, rammed the gate of the business several times with the vehicle, and struck a security officer, who was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect led pursuit on a pursuit on East Airport Drive. At one point, the man pulled over and acted like he was giving himself up, but “then placed the truck in reverse and intentionally rammed an Ontario police vehicle, nearly striking two officers,” police said in a statement.

The suspect fled in the truck again and pulled onto the eastbound 60 Freeway. Officers fired twice at the fleeing man. The suspect eventually gave up after driving up an embankment.

The suspect, a 37-year-old Pomona man, was hospitalized with an apparent gunshot wound to his leg and is in stable condition. He faces charges including attempted murder of a police officer.

No police officers were injured. Two officers have been placed on a standard three-days-of-paid-administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
