A storm is headed to Southern California Friday afternoon. And while plenty of rain should make the drive home a nightmare for those west of the Coachella Valley, the Desert will be lucky to see any sort of measurable rainfall at all.

The National Weather Service reports that a “potent but fast-moving storm system” will move across Southern California this afternoon.
Moderate to heavy rain is expected to last from three to five hours, reports the LA Times. The storm should reach the Central Coast region and reaching the L.A. area by mid- to late afternoon.
Rain totals for areas of western California could be over an inch in some places.

But, as for the Coachella Valley, forecasts are not calling for much rain at all – with .10 inches predicted in Palm Springs, .19 inches in Indio, and a whopping .01 inches in La Quinta.

Mountain areas are predicted to get a bit more (even snow at the higher elevations) and it forecasts call for it toe be very windy – with gusts up to 40 mph.
