Two Marines at Camp Pendleton are being investigated after a Facebook post showed a corporal in uniform holding an assault rifle with the message: “Coming to a gay bar near you!”
The photo was posted in a private Facebook group called “Camp MENdleton Resale” and also included the words “Too soon?”, according to the Marine Corps Times.
The post (seen below) has since been deleted and the person who posted it was banned from the group.
First Lt. Thomas Gray told the Marine Corps Times that both the Marine in the photo and the one who posted it to Facebook are being investigated and issued a statement:
“The Marine Corps does not tolerate discrimination based on sexual orientation, race, gender or religion,” the statement says. “…This type of behavior and mindset will not be allowed, and it is not consistent with the core values of honor, courage and commitment that are demonstrated by the vast majority of Marines on a daily basis.”
