Nothing gets you in the holiday spirit more than dropping the kids off for the first day of school in 112 degree weather.
Believe it or not, Walmart is kicking off its Christmas sales today by launching its holiday layaway plan earlier than ever before. The launch comes just one week before another big event for the retailer: “Force Friday” – the launch of new Star Wars toys expected to be one of, if not the, biggest toys of the Christmas season.
Some shoppers feel that Walmart is launching things way too soon.
“I think October, November is fine,” Toni Labrozzi told The Boston Globe. “I think the kids have really lost the meaning of Christmas — and having your Christmas toy list in September, it doesn’t really help.”
But Walmart doesn’t seem to care about the “meaning of Christmas” as they are way too concerned about Amazon and other stores stealing their business.
“Retailers want to get customers as soon as possible and Walmart’s jumping the gun,” said Business Insider’s Ashley Lutz. “They’re saying, ‘Spend all of your money here in August. Then you won’t have money to spend in other places.”
