If you are planning on headed to the Corona or the O.C., you may want to avoid doing it during the weekend of February 19th – 21st.
Crews need to build a complex new bridge on the freeway, at Maple Street, in Corona between the 71 and the 15, and, in order to do so, they will need to shut down the freeway at some point.
Different plans are being considered, including one that would close down nearly all of the 91 in Corona between the 71 and 15 from 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, to 4 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22. The other plan would see the work being done during 10 consecutive weekends – with closures only happening at night.
While the freeway would be closed to normal traffic, authorities would make it possible for emergency vehicles to use the freeway – such as in the case of someone who needed to be transported to the hospital.
Some residents of the area are, understandably, pissed – but Corona City Councilwoman Karen Spiegel feels like the best plan is the quickest one.
“It’s better to get it over with than drag it out,” Spiegel told the Press Enterprise. “It’s like that sore that’s not healing. Better to deal with it now.”
