Update: The 10 will reopen on Friday! – though only in one lane in each direction over the Tex Wash.
Original Post: Officials awarded an emergency contract to Granite Construction today to repair the Tex Wash bridge that collapsed on Sunday. The company has yet to offer a specific timetable – but, the outlook is not good. “You’ve got one section (of the bridge) that’s undermined and another section that’s missing,” Caltrans District 8 spokeswoman Terri Kasinga told City News Service. ’This could turn into something that’s a long-term detour.”
Meanwhile, KESQ reports that the 10 freeway may be able to reopen in just a matter of days – by using the westbound bridge for traffic in each direction.
