Those looking to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances can do so this Saturday at four Coachella Valley locations.
The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Initiative will take place from 10 am to 2 pm at the locations listed below. The event will give the public to drop off their medication into a drop box and representatives from the DEA will be on hand to assist and / or answer any questions regarding the National Take-Back Initiative.
Participating law enforcement offices include:
- Indio Police Department, 46-800 Jackson Street, Indio
- Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station, 73-705 Gerald Ford Dr, Palm Desert
- Palm Springs Police Department, 200 S. Civic Dr, Palm Springs
- Thermal Sheriff’s Station, 86625 Airport Blvd, Thermal
The initiative, supervised by U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will be coordinating a collaborative effort with state and local law enforcement agencies focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from medicine cabinets. The program provides an opportunity for law enforcement, prevention, treatment, and the business community to collaborate and establish a safe collection site for all Americans, regardless of where they reside.
