Nearly $3 million approved to make Palm Drive safer for pedestrians

Palm Drive in Desert Hot Springs is set for improvements making the road more friendly for pedestrians.

$2.7 million of improvements were approved for the street by the Coachella Valley Association of Governments this week. CVAG will pay 75% of the costs for the project that will include signals, street lights, and crosswalks, according to KMIR.

CVAG told the TV station that almost 4 people per year are struck by a driver on the road.

The City must approve final funding for the project – which seems like a no brainer – and will discuss at their council meeting Thursday night.
