Big changes could be in store for Big Bear’s two winter resorts.

Escrow closed on Friday on the sale of what was formerly Big Bear Mountain Resorts to Mammoth Resorts and the new company already has big changes in mind for their $33 million investment.

David Likins, the new  chief operations officer of the resorts, told The Press Enterprise what the company envisions for the future, including:

  • Trails connecting Snow Summit and Bear Mountain
  • A zip line
  • A rock wall
  • Tubing on the mountain
  • Better parking and an ease to traffic congestion on busy weekends
  • A new top-to-bottom beginner mountain biking trail that will open in June
  • More events, including concerts

“It’s a community that swells to 100,000 on a big weekend here, and only 15 percent of the people are skiing and riding,” Likins told The Press Enterprise.  “What are the other people doing? They’re looking for something to do.”
