Nine children were taken to the hospital on Monday afternoon after suffering breathing issues at a pool inside Marriott Shadow Ridge Resort in Palm Desert.
Authorities were called a little after 3 pm, reports the Desert Sun. Thirteen people were evaluated by medics with three children exhibiting serious symptoms, three with moderate symptoms and three having minor symptoms that may have been the result of a possible chemical vapor.
Crews are investigating whether a “pool malfunction” caused the illness, according to KMIR.
In May, the same resort saw four children hospitalized after being shocked in a pool.
