A man is dead after being shot in Cabazon Saturday night.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff Department were called to a business on Seminole Road near the outlets about 9:30 pm Saturday night because of a suspicious person, according to a release from the department.
The suspect fled from deputies and ran across the 10 Freeway onto Malki Road.
Police established a perimeter and, with the help of a Sheriff’s helicopter, located the suspect near Johnson Lane. Officers attempted to take him into custody but, according to police, he failed to obey their commands and an officer involved shooting occurred.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
The man’s name will not be released until his family is notified. The officer also was not named and has been placed on administrative leave.
The Sheriff’s Department did not release information about whether or not the man was armed.
