A Manhattan Beach attorney, who legally operates two short-term rentals in Palm Desert, is suing more than 40 rentals, claiming they are operating without permits.
Robert K. Lee spent over a year looking at short-term rentals in the area and argues that the lawsuit help Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert police for short-term rentals operating without a permit, reports the Desert Sun. And Lee says he won’t just stop at 40 properties and has plans to eventually sue homeowners in every Coachella Valley city.
But some do not see Lee’s lawsuit as anything more than a money grab, as a letter attached to the lawsuit seems to encourage those being sued to get a lawyer or settle quickly.
