Police arrested a 23-year-old man in Palm Desert after they say he robbed a home at gunpoint. He was found a short time later riding the bicycle he allegedly stole from the house.
Cory Riddle broke into a home on California Drive on Sunday morning at 8:32, reports City News Service.
The owner of the house woke up to find Riddle standing in his home with a shotgun. Riddle then took items from the house including a bike and a car.
Just a few hours later, Riddle was found near San Clemente Circle and San Gorgonio Way riding the victim’s bike after calls came in of a “suspicious person” in the area.
Police say that Riddle fled on foot and into the backyards of some of the houses in the area. When deputies caught up to him, they found him to be in possession of a shotgun and meth. They also found the stolen car in the area.
Riddle was charged with robbery, criminal threats, carjacking, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of controlled substances while armed, and receiving stolen property.
