5 Things to do in Greater Palm Springs This Weekend

Animal Tricks McCallum
You have to assume that this is how Sunday’s McCallum show is arriving in Palm Desert

And just like that, we are close to having ourselves a weekend again (or hell, depending on when you read this, maybe you are already there). So what’s the plan? Well, here are 5 options for you this weekend in The Coachella Valley:

Color Run

Color Run
(ColorMeRunner.com)

Run while volunteers turn you into an actual rainbow – that will be the case on Saturday morning as Color Me Runner hits Palm Springs.  The event raises money for The Well in the Desert to provide daily hot meals program for thousands of people a year.

Your $35 entry fee gets you a white T-shirt (guessing it won’t stay that way), sunglasses, and more (you can register here).  The event takes place at Demuth park in Palm Springs at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Que and Brew

Eat BBQ.  Drink beers.  That’s not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon.  Spotlight 29 Casino is hosting Que & Brew – which includes a BBQ competition, craft beer garden, and some live entertainment from 4- 10 pm on Saturday.

Getting in is free, but you will have to pony up $20 to get into the craft beer garden ( you get 5 samples with your ticket) – which will house Babe’s, CVB, La Quinta, Hangar, ACE Cider, and more.

Puddle of Mudd

They have sold over 7 million records (I know, right?) and Saturday night Wes Scantlin and company take to the stage at The Date Shed at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $20-$25 and, since the band loves the way you smack their ass, you should go see them.

George Lopez

The comedian pays another visit to the Coachella Valley (he owns a home here) to perform at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino on Saturday night.

Tickets are going for $49 to $99 or you can check out a Mötley Crüe tribute band nearby in The Rock Yard for free.

Sunday afternoon, The McCallum hosts their “4th Annual Family Fun Day” with “Those Amazing Animals” featuring Olate Dogs, who won “America’s Got Talent” back in 2012.

They will be joined by another former “America’s Got Talent” contestant, ventriloquist Kevin Johnson.   Tickets start at only 9 bucks – and that gets you into the activities that start at noon (performance starts at 2:30 p.m.)

Whatever you end up doing, have a great weekend!
