Palm Desert’s El Paseo shopping district, which is now super exciting because it has balloons, may be getting a new bar which you can check out, provided you have $5,000 and the owners like your face.
A tipster sent in this Facebook post for a place billing itself as Barbeau Palm Desert, which claims it is a “private member’s club on El Paseo”:
So yeah, the kind of place “Hemingway might throw back a Whiskey (or three) with the locals,” – but only the locals who can afford five grand to join a drinking club.
The website for Barbeua does not offer much more information, but does have an application form which allows you to submit your credit card (don’t, unless you have $5k to burn) and demands you submit a recent headshot in order to be considered for membership (which seems super classy).
And while there are no details about what the club would offer, look like, or if it is actually a real thing, but an address is supplied which is this building on El Paseo just west of San Luis Rey:
There is also no information on when the club will actually open or why something like this would even need to exist in the first place.
