Imperial Irrigation District crews arrived on  Saturday and spent several hours digging to get the cat out.  Once rescued, they named the cat “Piper”.   As the Desert Sun notes, “they haven’t determined its gender” (?).

Piper was taken to The Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms.  If the owner does not claim the animal, it will be put up for adoption.
