There was an officer-involved shooting in Palm Springs on Friday.
The Palm Springs Police Department tweeted about the shooting:

Officers in shooting are okay and one suspect is down. No suspects are known to be outstanding at this time.

Update – 2:58 pm: Witness Cody White told the Desert Sun that he saw a man in a heavy coat “walking around, acting aggressively” and so he called police.
White told the newspaper that the man suddenly reached for his waistband when police arrived. White then heard two shots.

Update – 5:51 pm: The man was making racial threats, exposing himself, and yelling racial and homophobic slurs – which prompted calls to the police, reports the Desert Sun.
During a news conference, Palm Springs Police Chief Brian Reyes said after policearrived, “there was a struggle that went to the ground, resulting in an officer-involved shooting.”
