Shocking photos were posted by police of two people they believe were passed out on heroin in a car with a 4-year-old boy in the backseat.

The photos were taken in East Liverpool, Ohio. Police said they posted the photos to send a message to drug users. In their posting, they said they are aware that may be offended by the images and for that, “we are truly sorry, but it is time that the non drug using public sees what we are now dealing with on a daily basis.”

Authorities were alerted to a driver who was reportedly driving erratically before slamming on his brakes as it approached a stopped school bus.

When the officer approached the vehicle, the driver was bobbing his head and his speech was almost unintelligible, according to KTLA. The driver told the officer he was taking the passenger, who was passed out to the hospital. The officer then reached into the car and grabbed the keys as the driver tried to pull away.

The driver then passed out a short time later.

The passenger and driver were given Narcan, a drug used to reverse the effects of a heroin overdose, and eventually regained consciousness.

They were identified as James Acord and Rhonda Pasek.

Acord is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering children, and slowing or stopping in a roadway. Pasek is charged with endangering children, public intoxication, and not wearing a seat belt.

The child is in the custody of Children’s Services.
