Police say Rancho Mirage High is safe after gun threat sent to student

Police say there is no current threat to Rancho Mirage High School after a student was sent an image of a young man holding a gun on Thursday.

The image featured text that said the man was coming to Rancho Mirage High School, according to the Desert Sun. Authorities investigated and say there is no threat to students.

On Thursday an image with a young man holding a gun and referencing Rancho Mirage High School was sent to a high school student who alerted the sheriff’s office, but local law enforcement officials say there is no current threat to students.

The school issued a statement to parents on Friday morning (via KESQ):

“We have been made aware of a post that was made on social media regarding a threat to the safety of our students. We have been investigating this concern along with law enforcement officials and have not found any credible information at this point.”
