Beaumont Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man they believe led them on a high speed pursuit that ended in a crashed that caused a brush fire.
In a news release, Beaumont Police Department say they received a 9-1-1 call where a witness told dispatch they heard a a woman screaming “call 911”. The witness then reported seeing a white Ford Mustang leaving the location at a high rate of speed.
Officers responded to the area and located a vehicle matching the description and tried to pull the vehicle over. The driver failed to yield and led officers on a pursuit into Cherry Valley, where they drove through a field and crashed into a fence on private property in the area of Johnathan Avenue and Bridge Street.
The collision sparked a brush fire, while the driver and the passenger both fled on foot. Officers located the female passenger hiding in an outbuilding on the property and detained her, but the male driver eluded police.
