A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition after accidentally shooting himself in the head at Rancho Cucamonga park Monday night.

Witnesses claim the boy was with a group of friends at Victoria Arbors Park around 8 p.m. Monday. Then, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials, the boy shot himself while playing with a handgun that he inherited from a family member.

The boy was then flown by helicopter to a local hospital. Police do not believe there was any foul play or an attempt at suicide.
