Rancho Mirage High School put on lockdown after shooting near the campus: reports

Rancho Mirage High was put on lockdown on Wednesday morning as police investigate a reported shooting nearby.

“The shooting happened near Ramon and Rattler road and it did not involve any students”, Joan Boiko, spokeswoman for the Palm Springs Unified School District told The Desert Sun.

A man was shot in the leg on Ramon Road between Rattler Way and DaVall Drive, according to KESQ and was taken to a nearby hospital. Authorities said they were searching for the suspect in the area of the school.

Ramon Road is closed in both directions between Da Vall and Rattler due to the shooting.

Sheriff’s say there is no threat to students.

UPDATE: the lockdown has been lifted.
