A 52-year-old Rancho Mirage man is dead after they were hit by a vehicle Thursday night near the Monterey Marketplace shopping center in Palm Desert.
The crash happened on Dinah Shore about 6 pm, according to the Desert Sun. Authorities on Friday identified the victim as 52-year-old Kurt Scheel of Rancho Mirage.
Scheel was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, Palm Desert man, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
