A Rancho Mirage plastic surgeon and his wife were taken into custody in Israel in June two years after they fled the United States amidst charges they participated in what prosecutors say was a scheme to obtain over 3 million dollars from insurance companies by “false and fraudulent pretenses.”
David and Linda Morrow were charged with dozens of counts of fraudulently billing insurance companies for surgeries that should not have been covered in 2016. David Morrow had operated two plastic surgery centers in Rancho Mirage. In a plea deal in 2017, he admitted guilt to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud.
David Morrow faced up to 20 years in prison and charges against Linda Morrow had not yet proceeded to trial when the couple disappeared in 2017 shortly after they sold their Beverly Hills home for $9.5 million along with several cars, according to the Desert Sun.
The pair were arrested in Israel on June 16, reports KESQ.
Linda Morrow pleaded not guilty two new counts of contempt and violation of a release condition on Monday after being returned to the United States.
David Morrow is pending extradition.
