Update: The Rancho Mirage City Council voted to approve a proposed cell phone tower on the property of the Westin Mission Hills on Thursday, according to the Desert Sun (a previous report from KMIR that the tower was not approved was incorrect).
People who live in the area have been complaining for years about bad service in the area, so a plan was devised to add a cell tower disguised as a clock tower on the property matching the rest of the property.
Residents of the area complained about the tower’s radiation at Thursday’s meeting, while another forcefully statied that “property values in the area will plummet,” if the tower were to be built.
The council approved the tower on the condition that is be locate at least 400 feet from the nearest Mission Hills residential property.
