Good news everyone. No need to cut back on your water usage anymore because the man who portrayed T.J. Hooker has a plan to get us out of this mess once and for all. And he just needs 30 billion of your dollars to make it happen.
“I want $30 billion … to build a pipeline like the Alaska pipeline. Say, from Seattle — a place where there’s a lot of water. There’s too much water,” the “Star Trek” actor told Yahoo’s David Pogue. “How bad would it be to get a large, 4-foot four-foot pipeline, keep it above ground — because if it leaks, you’re irrigating!”
The Shat said he plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign to raise the cash for it (and he just might raise, the money…if he sends everyone a killer ice chest).
Seattle TV station KIRO investigated Shatner’s plan (below) to see if it would actually work (spoiler: not so much), but Shatner said that even if his Seattle pipeline doesn’t work, he does hope that it will increase awareness of the drought.
This is not a new idea, back in the early 1990s research was conducted on a pipeline that would bring water from Alaska to California. Obviously, the pipeline never was built…mostly because it would have cost $150 billion dollars.
